Account Opening

Foreign investors living outside of Korea

According to Korean Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC) rules, foreign investors who want to invest in Korean securities are required to register under their real names with the Financial Supervisory Service(FSS) and obtain Investment Registration Certificate(IRC).

With the IRC issued, SSC will open customer accounts as the standing proxy.After IRC number and account number are informed, customers can start remittance of funds.

Foreign investors who have been living in Korea more than 6 months

  • 6 months will be considered from the date of entry or date of issue in Alien Registration Card.
  • These investors are exempt from IRC and should visit nearby branch of SSC to open accounts with passport and alien registration card. Investment funds should be in Korean won.

Foreign investors who have been living in Korea less than 6 months and work in Korea

These investors are exempt from IRC and should visit nearby branch of SSC to open accounts with passport, alien registration card and certificate of employment. Investment funds should be in Korean won.

NOTICE!

  • If you made an HTS ID at our branch office, you must register your new ID Password.
    It will be used when loging in, trading and bank transfering Password Registration
